Accessibility Statement

Accessibility is part of Keep Humanity First's humanitarian mission, not an afterthought, this site may be used by people with disabilities, older people, people under stress, and people on low-end devices or slow connections.

Conformance target

This website is built to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Because it is newly built, it has not yet had an independent third-party accessibility audit, that audit is part of the pre-launch checklist in documents/Testing.md.

What is implemented today

  • A "Skip to main content" link on every page.
  • Semantic HTML landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) and a logical heading structure on every page.
  • Visible focus indicators on every interactive element, including custom controls like toggle tiles and steppers.
  • Full keyboard operability for navigation, the mobile menu, the FAQ accordion, and every multi-step form (Get Help, Donate).
  • Labeled form fields, grouped fieldsets, and inline error messaging tied to fields via ARIA.
  • Color contrast checked against WCAG AA thresholds for text and interactive states.
  • Respect for prefers-reduced-motion, animations and smooth scrolling are disabled for users who request it.
  • Touch targets sized for mobile use, and a mobile-first responsive layout tested down to small phone widths.

Known limitations

  • No independent accessibility audit or assistive-technology user testing has been performed yet.
  • Placeholder images use descriptive text alternatives; real photography will need accurate, specific alt text once supplied.
  • Forms are currently front-end previews (see each form's notice), accessible error handling for real server-side validation will need re-testing once a backend is connected.
